Sheild Volcano –
 
The lava from this type of Volcano are very fluidy and flow flow a long way before they cool down, making a broad shield structure. This covers a broad area. The typical example is the Piton de La Fournaise.
 
Fissure Volcano –
 
As the name suggests, it involves a fissure in the Earth’s Crust. And the molten lava wells up in it.
 
 
The liquid lava flows away in a flood of molten rock resembling a lake. On hardening , it forms a flat sheet called the Flood basalt.
